So, I'm slowly getting through the Wheel of Time books, and last time I talked on my dA journal, I was reading the Great Hunt. I'm just now finishing Crown of Swords. However, I wanted to give my own personal opinions of the characters, and the different books, so for those of you who haven't read the series, please skip to the non-Wheel of Time section of this journal.
The Eye of the World - I have to say that this is one of my favorite books in the series. Just because now the characters are so different than they were in this book. I feel connected to the sheepherder Rand was, and the boys that Perrin and Mat used to be. It's almost weird to see them in positions of power now, after reading this one. I always go back to this book, and read my favorite parts, just to remember what the boys used to be compared to what they are now: A Wolfman, a general, and the Dragon Reborn.
The Great Hunt - I really didn't like how Rand treated Mat and Perrin in this book. It made me sad, especially when he pushed them away in the beginning when they were still in Shienar. And reading about Mat trying to find the dagger to get healed by the White Tower was just sad to read. I felt so bad for the guy. I also really liked how Nynaeve, Elayne, Egwene, and Min all developed in this particular book, finally realizing things that are out of their control.
The Dragon Reborn - Rand. Is. STUPID. That's all I have to say, and those of you how have read it will understand what I'm talking about.
The Shadow Rising - It was interesting reading about the Aiel in this one, and how Rand was connected to them with his real mother and father. I really liked Bain and Chiad in this one, along with Rhuarc. And I must admit, I really didn't like Aviendha when I first read about her. I thought she just got angry all the time. And of course, Couladin was a jerkface.
The Fires of Heaven - Mat was a BAMF in this book. This is also one of my favorites so far. I just love how all of the characters progress in this book, and how far they travel to achieve what they did in this book. Min was one of my heroes in this book. Really, and truly. And I KNEW from the beginning that it had to be a Forsaken how was with Morgase. It had to be, and I was right! Ha!
Lord of Chaos - Longest book to read, so far. So many things happened, like the events at Dumai's Wells. I felt so terrible for Rand, it wasn't funny. I practically cried. And as for Egwene, I think she makes a good Amyrlin Seat.
A Crown of Swords - Some of the characters I really didn't like in this book. Rand seemed really emo to me, Min was too clingy, and Nynaeve acted like a child most of the time. I really liked Mat, though. The events with Tylin were quite hilarious.
I made the things brief so that I wouldn't take up so much space. I will post my review of Path of Daggers when I get to it.
As for the characters, they are as follows:
Rand - You love him, you hate him, and you feel sorry for him. That's all there is to it. I'm just a little worried about him having three girls tied to him, all crazy for him.
Mat - BAMF, as always. He always will hold a special place in my heart. And apparently Tylin's. xD Quite the ladies' man.
Perrin - I like that now he accepts being able to talk to wolves, and being able to use them to his advantage if he needs help. It's really quite cool. Now he just needs to tame Faile, and everything will be alright. xD
Egwene - She's one of the most awesome characters right now. I love her progression from a country bumpkin to becoming the Amyrlin Seat at 18. It really is remarkable how far she's come.
Nynaeve - Still with that temper of hers. But she doesn't have her channeling block anymore. YAY! And she really needs to do something about Lan, I mean, really. xD
Elayne - I'm impressed with her standing up to Vandene, Adelaes, and the other Aes Sedai in Ebou Dar. She deserves to be Aes Sedai, darn it.
Min - She's really getting on my nerves lately. I hate how she's being so clingy. I understand that she wants to be at Rand's side at all times, but...really?
Aviendha - She's just awesome. There are no words to describe her.
Morgase - I admire the fact that she can admit to herself that she's afraid, and I love how they ended up escaping the Fortress of the Light. Balwer is apparently useful, lol.
There are dozens of other characters, I know, but I didn't feel like writing down anything else. I'll probably do more summaries of the characters in my next journal. Or when I'm doing my review of Path of Daggers. Whichever comes first.
As for the rest of my life, everything's alright. Some complications among friends, some stories too long to discuss, but everything's okay for now. Still going on voice and piano, several choirs I'm with, and stuff like that.

umm sorry for the random rant lol i couldn't help it. too exciting when others have read these.
Mat is my favorite, but it's kind of sad not reading about him at all in this book. From what I've heard, he comes back in Winter's Heart. D: And Perrin is awesome, too. Perrin's just a cool, laid-back guy. And Nynaeve is...Nynaeve. xD

And that's funny. After I was done reading Wheel of Time, I was going to read Anne Rice. O.o Along with R.A. Salvatore.

Anne Rice and Robert Jordan are my favorite authors of all time. Their books are equally..eh..detailed i guess? Plots within plots within plots..RJ was a little more political but not by much.
